Like the movie or not, it’s baffling to me that people critique it for not taking a side or showing what caused the war… as if it was an oversight they didn’t consider. The movie is ABOUT being inside a civil war via the perspective of photo journalists who have to remain objective. It’s the point.

And I think a popular book that’s an unexpected prequel to one of the most popular stories/movies in our culture, about two super famous characters whose stories haven’t been told before, and in a colorful fantasy world, is a great/obvious idea for a musical.

The book was very popular before the musical happened, it wasn’t just Schwartz, Holzman and Platt/Stone who liked it.
