infuriating thing about Northern Ireland "political commentators" is they told all of us "ceasefire babies" how impractical and unworkable it is to refuse to engage with psychopaths and sectarians

10 years later they are doing the same, lamenting that we all aren't as smart as them.

No, Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly does not have "concerns" over it, she's in the DUP and a dickhead.

These people are all hateful, spiteful bastards. Stop treating them as worthy of civil debate and discussion.

Fuck the DUP, their voters, and anyone thick enough to oppose a LANGUAGE.

As always, remember that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to oppose the preservation and promotion of the Irish language that isn't rooted in sectarianism.

Not a single one. They just hate you, and they laugh when people fall for their "concerns."

All signs in NI should be bilingual.

Bit weird how pushback against ill-informed or biased views is seen as more of an issue than aggressively right-wing agitators feeling vindicated and emboldened. Bit strange that so many people seem more comfortable with creeping fascism than with being asked to be decent about vulnerable groups.

Genuinely at a loss over what GN means when he says the Irish government doesn't let people speak out about their "concerns"

The far right were let terrorise people working in libraries or living in DP and nothing was done to contain th until they were committing arson

Conor McGregor: Rape crisis charity complaint over Trump visit The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre says McGregor's meeting with Donald Trump

Sexual violence was "normalised" long before the rapist McGregor turned up.
Any politician who has shaken Trumps hand took part in the "normalisation".
He's a self-confessed sexual predator and adjudicated rapist, yet people have sat with him 1/

Broken record here but this book by Kevin Learns is tremendous.

It's also a little bit heartbreaking; an eruption of colour and passion and optimism in an era generally associated with hopeless, dire, endless misery of the Church's rigid social order.

It's a sign of the times that callousness is now dressed up as intellectualism. That empathy is framed as being as morally problematic as prejudice. That bigotry and hatred is just honesty. That solidarity is treason.

decades before the French revolution, the concept of a Yank was rapidly forming.

Here's a coin from Ireland in 1766, before the woke mob across the pond declared independence from the Brits.

recent coin find, 1st French Republic (mid revolution) but very specifically 1798; as this coin was minted and carried in the pockets of Parisians, the United Irishmen took up arms to declare an Irish Republic.

Of course, my ancestors fought to kill off both revolutions. But ah. Here. Sure look.
