I think the dynomite scene was probably one of the scenes that stuck out the most to me. We get a full view of Adam leaning into the unfair label of monster. He's gone from trying to integrate and gain understanding and acceptance to going "You think I'm a monster? Fine. I'll show you a monster."

Yep, unsurprising that my love of all things Del Toro related continues to thrive. This man understands the monster and the "other" like no one else and Frankenstein is another example of how he does it.

when you turn to monsters for comfort because you feel monstrous yourself, it's just very jarring when you realize that is not what draws others to monsters, so they aren't inclined to explore that otherness with care and appreciation.

watched a video on monster fucking and it really highlighted why the more "cozy" contemporary monster romance titles don't hit for me because the monster MMCs are just highly-fetishized men who just happen to be not human, never actually exploring monstrosity and the otherness itself

Oh, I think we may have watched the same video. It was both affirming of my own personal feelings about being drawn to monsters and ...a big reminder as to why I can't resonate with a lot of people who also claim to be monster fuckers, especially in the book world.
