12.11.2025 13:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βMetacognitionβ has become increasingly important to advance mental health understanding and treatment, but integration between fields has been difficult with different methods and conceptualizations. We propose bridging these perspectives under a unified hierarchical framework. (2/3)

Very pleased to share our new review in @natrevpsychol.nature.com on integrating cognitive neuroscience and clinical perspectives of metacognition in mental health! With @tobiasuhauser.bsky.social, Lena Jelinek, and Steffen Moritz. (1/3)

Come and say hi to @seowxft.bsky.social @floorburghoorn.bsky.social @lenarddome.bsky.social & @kenzakdr.bsky.social who will be demonstrating our brain explorer app and research at the @medresfdn.bsky.social stand at New Scientist Live event in London
@uclqsion.bsky.social @unituebingen.bsky.social
We @smfleming.bsky.social, Marion Rouault and @seowxft.bsky.social and I) have posted a reply osf.io/preprints/ps... to a preprint that recently raised concerns about the validity of associations between mental health and metacognition from online studies. I hope you can take the time to read it.

πHad the honour to talk about confidence and doubt in OCD on The OCD Conversations last week!
In partnership with Orchard OCD:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLVQ...
#OCD is a understudied disorder, meaning that we know way too little about the underlying (brain) processes.
We have thus built the Brain Explorer app www.brainexplorer.net where everyone can easily contribute to understanding OCD.
#MentalHealthAwareness @tueneurocampus.bsky.social @ucl.ac.uk
It's #MentalHealthAwareness week - time for facts: OCD is not about being tidy. Itβs a serious mental health condition rooted in brain processes β and weβre studying it.

Lastly, we see that confidence alterations predict anxiety-depression symptoms very well, but compulsivity likely has other influences beyond confidence (which is important!). There is much more to unravel with this complex construct :) (4/4)
19.03.2025 16:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We also saw heterogeneous confidence patterns across the local to global metacognitive hierarchy in compulsivity versus a lowered confidence effect in anxiety-depression at all levels - again, irrespective of cognitive domain. (3/4)
19.03.2025 16:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We find that (local) overconfidence was linked to compulsivity regardless of whether it was about memory or perceptionβ¦ is the transdiagnostic approach revealing overshadowing effects of underconfidence in anxiety-depression in memory as well? (2/4)
19.03.2025 16:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Paper out in PLOS Mental Health 2 weeks ago π but better late than never! Collab with @smfleming.bsky.social and @tobiasuhauser.bsky.social. We investigated how confidence is altered in transdiagnostic compulsivity across memory and perception, as memory confidence is typically lowered in OCD. (1/4)
