Great to find a Lesser Emperor at Cheswick, Nthld, today - a male was hawking over Bramble and Hawthorn next to the England Coast Path by the pool nr Cheswick, too fast for my camera and I last saw it when it was seen off by a male Emperor patrolling the shore below (pictured)

Couldn’t find the Lesser Emperor late morning/midday but some large dragonflies were a bit distant & against the light, at least 7 male and 2 female Emperors present and a Greenshank popped in briefly, swam for a few seconds then flew off north, legs not long enough!

On the 18th May there appeared to be 3 prs with young - one pr had at least 3 very small young, one of which is in the attached photo. However, by the 31st May, all three prs appeared to have failed and the adult birds had dispersed
