It still boggles my mind that so many people couldn't grasp last year how significantly more morally depraved a second Trump term would be in comparison to the first. And how so many people still can't comprehend that our national crisis isn't about politics, but simple morality.

This could end with a strike by air-traffic controllers who're working for nothing. Shut down air travel and demand more staff, training, & equipment.

Day 1 the airlines would be camping on the Capitol lawn. After 3, the Epstein Files would be public. A week, we could have Medicare for All.

10/ If you can't get behind a donation because you're stuck on that hill about people getting handouts or how the small percentage of bad actors spoil the pot for the other people, then you could at least take a moment and send some love, light or prayer to the people in social services.

8/ But if you must shop, or your love language is finding the best deals, these are the items any food pantry or collection/distribution point (think food boxes) are always happy to receive:

Canned Fruit
Canned Meats: tuna, salmon, beef
Canned Soups
Boxed Macaroni & Cheese

7/ Clean out your pantries. Just don't send grossly outdated food. Honestly, it's disrespectful and unsafe. If you wouldn't risk it, you shouldn't give it away and ask someone else to.

6/ This is how you love your neighbor as yourself. This is how you minister your faith.

Pantries already have accounts with food manufacturers and stores to maximize dollars. What we can buy on shelves, they can buy at a discount. Send dollars.

5/ It's time to say enough is enough with using things like food and healthcare as pawns for those of us in middle America. And it's time to take a hard look at our wallets and consider a donation to a local food pantry. For all of you out there claiming to love Jesus, this is your time.

4/ If you're not worried about how to make your next meal, feed your kids or take a warm meal to your parents or grandma, it's time to start imagining what it's like for your neighbors who live with food scarcity every day.

It's kids, guys. It's babies. It's the elderly. It's the disabled.

3/ I was there to take some promo pictures, but rather than looking robust they were empty.

For those of us not worried about how the shutdown is affecting SNAP, it's time for you to show up.

2/ Food pantries are just not prepared or financially able to fill the gap that's about to happen for Indiana families. They have already been hit hard with high inflation at the grocery store. When I walked the pantry Monday afternoon, the normally-full shelves were sad.
