Like it’s easier for so-called nonfiction news outlets to put a good-faith spin on this government than it is for Hollywood to try. Go ahead, try to write a single republican character who is smart and complex. Three-dimensional? You’d have to stretch reality to work a second dimension in there.

Trying to watch The West Wing (kind of a rewatch, I guess, but I never made it very far) with a critical eye, and it’s darkly hilarious to me how impossible it is to make a semi-serious political show right now. The Diplomat, I guess but lol. A realistic look at US diplomacy rn could not be serious.
