Do your research first on what rivers the salmon are running in, it changes with the weather and is different with the many species on the west coast.
The Kokanee Salmon run in the Okanagan at the beginning September. They are a fresh water species and never leave Lake Okanagan.

They are something to see, I go every year to watch the salmon run it is captivating.
