16.10.2025 17:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Research institutes are such an economic lifeblood for Americaβs interior, but more than just that, theyβre a big part of pushing our country forward #HigherEd
16.10.2025 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At least when it comes to research selection, itβs critically important to ensure that funds are solely distributed based on the merit and impacts of proposed work. With less research dollars distributed than weβve seen in quite some time, we have to make sure theyβre used in the most impactful way
16.10.2025 17:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Universities are definitely feeling the squeeze. Not only is the money held up, but support resources are as well, making proposing and managing existing awards much more difficult #AcademicSky

In speaking with those all over the academic landscape, itβs clear that everyone has complaints in how grant finances are managed. PIs are in the dark, admins lack proper tools to manage their work, and central offices have minimal data for decision making. This is solvable- and well worth solving.
23.09.2025 23:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs great to hear that some funding is returning, but to boost long-term support for research, weβve got to increase public enthusiasm for the important work universities do, and weβve got to enhance our ability to manage the money we have to make us more resilient. Not out of the woods yet!

A new potential can of worms waiting to be opened. The focus regarding
university research must be on supporting the public good
Really inspiring stuff. Another testament to university research in action and why financial support for it is so critical!

Scientists: Now Is the Time to Overhaul Federal Research Regulations
A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine lays out options for federal research agencies to reduce regulatory burdens at a time when Trump is calling for deregulation. https://bit.ly/4njJfhw
"When governments politicize science, the damage ripples outward β shrinking innovation capacity, degrading higher education quality, and eroding a countryβs economic future."

Waiting for NIH grant news with the current ambiguity around funding? Someone started a spreadsheet to track which study sections are actually meeting:

Studies show that funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) contributed to 354 of 356 drugs (99.4%) approved by the FDA from 2010 to 2019. Recklessly slashing NIH funding will mean that patients will be waiting much longer for life-saving treatments.
