Moving means clearing out the soon to be old apartment during the long weekend. And coming across some wonderful words of wisdom, written in class, sometime in 2019.

This is not the time to discuss it, but what appears to be the iconic image of a protester in Istanbul disguised as a whirling dervish is actually less "iconic" than one might think.

The last thing we need is the orientalist aestheticization of a genuine and multifaceted social movement.

Şişli’de Türkiye yakın siyasi tarihinin en büyük öğrenci eylemine tanık oluyoruz. Maçka’dan çıkan on binlerce öğrenci Şişli Belediyesi’ne yürüyor. Böylesi bir öğrenci hareketi kitleselliği 90’larda dahi görülmemiştir. #TurkeyProtest

A huge anti-Erdoğan protest tonight in Istanbul, defying a four day national ban on protests, to denounce the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.

"Break down those barricades without harming the police. Take to the streets and squares", Ozgur Ozel, an opposition leader, told protesters.

In 2010, anti-copyright activist Aaron Swartz hanged himself after being prosecuted to the full extent of the law for making copyrighted academic publications freely available. Today, academic publishers are insisting those copyrights be lifted to feed the corporate AI slop machine.

If someone wishes you "happy holidays," it doesn't mean they hate Christmas. They're simply acknowledging that there are *many* sacred observances that take place this month, including the anniversary of Muntadhar al-Zaidi throwing a shoe at George W Bush on this date in 2008.

Happy Birthday to Friedrich Engels who was born on this day, 28 November, in 1820! 🎉

He was an autodidact, composer, sketch artist, and, most importantly, a revolutionary

In 1839, the 19 year old shared several compositions (includ. the chorale below) and sketches in his letters

Optimist: The cup is half full.
Pessimist: The cup is half empty.
Utopian: Utopia is in the process of filling the cup, even though it may reach only half, despite the conventional wisdom telling us we shouldn't try it, since we'll never be able to fill it entirely.
