No, it’s a phrase we use to convey that something tuckers us out. “Oof dah, that’s a big snow fall we got there, better go fire up the snow blower.” It’s said more intentionally than “ope”, which just comes out sometimes.

I’m really only just getting into it but I genuinely love birding as a hobby. The entire goal is to look at the bird. Is there a bird? There is a bird! Look at the bird! If you are very keen you can learn what to call the bird so that you can properly thank it for the joy you feel when you see it. 🪶

What if trans women defined womanhood and femininity? How about we try that on for a change. We think about it, fight for it, manifest it, and hold tight despite everything we lose and stand to have taken. No one has the right to question what we know down to our bones.

In panel 3 the goose's neck is longer and is labeled "no". In panel 4 the goose's neck is extremely long and terrifyingly snakelike and it's labeled "yessss".

There's a lot of talk about Canada Geese and whether they're good and my answer is Yes.

A six-panel comic called Signs of Spring, Ranked. In panel 1, #10 is Robin - not always a useful sign since robins are quietly present in winter in many areas. In panel 2, there's #9: Daffodil - nice, mundane, #8: Skunk Cabbage - unusual, cool, and #7: Dutchman's Breeches - lol. In panel 3, there's #6: Turkey vulture migrating - gloriously ominous, a humbling reminder of life's transience, and #5: very very small bunny - wow, the little ears. In panel 4 there's #4: Snake sunbathing, with a gartersnake warming itself - underappreciated, looks cozy, and #3: Woodcock going peent - the perfect sound. In panel 5 there's #2: small frogs yelling as loud as they can, with a wood frog floating in a pool inflating itself to make a loud quack - they crave love, or at least they crave the external fertilization of 1500 gelatinous eggs. In panel 6, there's #1, Even smaller frogs yelling, with a spring peeper sitting on the ground making loud calls - yes, YES.

Instead of believing the myth that three expensive, genetically modified wolves are “de-extinct” dire wolves, let’s look at animals humanity has actually brought back from the brink of extinction using proven science and dedicated hard work: 🧵/6

I had never seen this moth before despite spending most of my time outside.
I found out it is a Giant Leopard Moth and apparently quite rare. #InsectThursday #EastCoastKin #Gardening 🐛

“A.I. makes art accessible.” Art has always been accessible. There was like a six month period where I drew all the sketches for my comics with a lined notebook from the grocery store and a random green marker.

It’s raining BALLS* this morning, but I made cinnamon rolls, so it’s gonna be a GOOD DAY.

One bright side to being forced to live in an AI slop tornado is now I see my artistic mistakes as incredibly endearing. The human machine of my body made that weird line. My worst day of drawing is completely untouchably better than anything AI will ever produce until the heat death of the universe

Reminder: You can just…do stuff.

You don’t have to wait for your boss to tell you to. You don’t have to wait to be told you’re good enough.

As long as you’re not hurting anybody, and especially if doing it would help somebody… you can just do it.

Cis allies, here's a super simple way to support trans people - and you don't even have to talk to anyone on the phone!

Just add a public comment saying medical care for transgender people is essential and should not be banned from ACA plans.

These lil muskrats at the lake bring me so much joy. I mistook them for otters until I saw one on the shore with a big rat tail and frantically looked it up. I had never seen one before we started taking evening walks by the lake.

People dislike language policing so much, God was like, “do not take my name in vain or you will burn forever!” And we were like “well I wasn’t really planning on it, but since you didn’t want me to…”

Thanks to climate change, I’m no longer sure what my area’s last frost date is. I do know it’s alarmingly early. I’m starting my tomatoes two weeks earlier this year and hoping for the best.

I also started lettuce and spinach seeds in reused to-go containers from restaurants. I put those in actual potting soil because I intend to harvest them instead of transplanting outside. I’m trying something new!

Two 50-plug seed starting trays sit on a kitchen table. A six year old child is filling them with seed starting soil mix. Seed packets and a dirt filled bowl are also on the table. It is messy and joyful.

Annual make a big mess in the kitchen day! Starting flowers, sage, parsley, basil, cilantro. A little early for the last two, but I’m going to try growing it indoors.
