βWe should think very carefully before removing the right to trial by jury.
Once it is removed, it will not return. Pragmatism is essential, but fundamental principles must not yield to expediency. We must eliminate the delay but not at the expensive of fairnessβ

When Universities are mismanaged or run into financial issues, it's always the staff and NEVER the management who lose their jobs.
On the contrary, they get above-inflation pay rises that are the equivalent to one or two of the full time jobs they cut.
How and why do we let this happen?

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

The day after Donald Trumpβs election last year, three Georgetown Law students started a political movement to brace for impact.
The students texted each other, started organizing, and eventually discovered the ability to perform a simple act to put the worldβs wealthiest and most powerful law firms on the defensive.
They created a spreadsheet.
βFascist Attacks Trackerβ
After Trump signed executive orders singling out law firms for political retribution, the students recorded BigLawβs responses in a document they titled βLegal Industry Responses to Fascist Attacks Tracker.β
"Law students organize to give Trump-caving firms a recruitment problem"
Georgetown Law students made a spreadsheet. National coverage followed. Now, the world's richest firms face PR & recruitment headaches.

This is also a damning indictment of UUK and every single Vice Chancellor in the UK. They've utterly failed to convince the government that action is needed to save the higher education sector, despite their disgustingly large salaries. What are they actually being paid to do?

MPs being (rightly) recalled over the 2,700 jobs at risk in British steel, while 5,000 university jobs are actively being cut this year with a further 5,000 jobs under threat and very little intervention is... interesting. Academia is also an industry in collapse.
