Today’s How’s Stat is another county championship leader from yesteryear.

This player had the most championship wickets in 1912.

In his 58 tests he amassed 2,325 runs at 30.19 and bagged 127 wickets at 26.96. Oh and he took 4,204 first class wickets at 16.72.

Ollie Pope has 9 tons in 61 and averages 35.

However, in my view, it isn't half the player Gatt was.

My batting hero, Allan Lamb got 14 tons in his 79 tests at 36. Not sure Pope will get 5 in next 18 tests as 18 more tests now seem unlikely.
