Okay, I’m hoping this will gain some traction on Bluesky *inhales* SALEM PUBLIC LIBRARY IN OREGON IS IN DANGER OF CLOSING. This sets a dangerous precedent for state capital libraries!!

Unfortunately this is a reoccurring problem, I’ve found. Where I work, Parks and Rec and the library got budget cuts after police got raises (without local gov knowing where that money came from). Village hall said, “We need the police, we don’t need a library.” 1/2

I just helped a 42 year old man get his first ever library card.

I gave him a sticker & the person he was with took a picture of him with our giant library card (I was in the photo with him holding the other side of the card.)
