Made us very happy reading it. We've maxed out our renewals from the library for this. Will definitely be getting a copy to keep. Have a wonderfully restful end to the year, @rashmiwriting.bsky.social!

My 7yo is ill. I'm not the preferred cook in our household. But I made a light khichuri yesterday with yellow moong dal (easy to digest), cauliflower and peas, and my child wanted seconds. My child likes to cook. Maybe he will make it for me one day. #FoodStories

Copy of Amazing Asia: An Encyclopaedia of an Epic Continent, surrounded by Lego lies on a coffee table. The intricate cover artwork is embossed gold, and shaded night sky blue to peachy pink from top to bottom. Like a dual-bordered sari. Title lettering in the middle is a patchwork of prints in pink, yellow, dark blue and brown.
The Great Wall of China, built in a rectangle with multi-coloured Lego. There are three blocks depicting the towers at the far end.
Gratitude post to thank @rashmiwriting.bsky.social and Jason Lyons for a magical book and excellent learning resource. We borrowed *Amazing Asia* from the library, but my child likes it so much, he wants his own copy. He even made his own Great Wall of China! #books #libraries #homework

Odd, indeed, to get that response. In fact, in such situations I've often checked in with the PE/PM to ask if they've received any updates from the author that may be causing delays and that I might be unaware of.

Depending on what the schedule is, I decide on a reasonable length of time to wait for a response from the author after initial contact and send a follow-up. If I don't hear back after one or two follow-ups (again, how many depends on schedule), I will ask the PE to nudge the author.

This. We need to educate ourselves enough to take a stand. Not sit on the fence or spread/start from a point of fear that stops ourselves and other people from learning objectively and making this decision. #editing #publishing

Sorry, lovely people, but I'm not both-siding genAI. It's killing our planet, it's destroying people's lives and brains, it's enriching the already too rich. Yes, having conversations about it and educating people is important, but to me, that doesn't include acceptance or working with users.

Such a great keynote address on AI and editing by @janefriedman.com at today's @edsguild.bsky.social Red Pencils conference.
One key takeaway: How we approach the issue is as important as the issue itself.
