🔺 STAGE 1 The Ursavirus is a synthetic DNA virus that spreads via bodily contact. At stage one of the infection, the subject will appear asymptomatic, apart from displaying increasingly manic behaviors. Most individuals will not experience advanced stages of the disease, but some do to great effect. Enter test subject 89. Weighing in at 280lbs, with a height of 5'10", Rex possesses a robust, but normal figure for your average Ursan. He presents no signs of infection, if not for a recent shift in mood—an increased interest in sex and impulse purchases.

🔺🔺 STAGE 2 At stage two of the infection, the very manic subject will undergo a sudden morphological change similar to that of ancient lycanthropy myths. Depending on the DNA of the infected, the virus will activate and alter dormant genes which trigger a rapid and extreme increase in height, muscle mass, and weight. This shift results in a new figure that assumes characteristics of common ancestors. These vary from subject to subject, but nearly all share cranial horn growth and elongated fangs. The physical transformation is accompanied by rutting behavior, which often aids in viral transmission. Despite their new appearance and instincts, this process does not affect their sapience. At 11'6", and 1 ton, Rex assumes a formidable form. Possible military applications show promise.

🔺🔺🔺 STAGE 3 The final stage of the infection follows a similar pattern to the prior phase, albeit on a far greater scale. Advanced mutation leads to near-exponential growth resulting in a towering subject. Some models project heights exceeding hundreds of feet. This form varies, but horns and incisors are always prominent. At this stage, the subject’s eyes also glow, and they may also develop additional abilities. Despite these incredible physical changes and hormonal impulses, higher reasoning still remains unaffected. Rex now clocks in at 1km and 3 billion metric tons. He is a mobile w.m.d. with a mind of their own. Extreme caution is advised.

Technologically backwards, the hairless ones were not at all prepared for the radical changes to come. Some months after the Ursavirus was deployed, the Cult laid siege to the planet. Together, with the help of their new Saurian conscripts, the Cult was victorious. The battle for Earth was not without cost, but ultimately, valuable territorial claims, subjects, and provisions were acquired.

70 years after Starclaw departed from its home port at Megrez III, it finally arrived at GJ 625 B, or as the locals call it, "New Earth." After months of upper-atmosphere viral gas bombardment, it was finally time for the Cult of Ursa Major's planetary invasion to begin. Meanwhile, planet-side, Tyra and her clique are busy conquering the planet's capital, New Babylon. Today, the sky rained meteors. An ill omen perhaps? Little did the Sauran giants know, this would be the first sign of the end of their rule. Or perhaps not? Rex himself steered the detached bridge down to the planet. Shortly after, he just so happened upon Tyra's posse, and initiated an ambush. "Surrender!" or the Cult's equivalent term, emanated from his helmet in Ursalith and then again in Saurian-Sumerian. Tyra and her colleague understood the order, but had no interest in complying. Looks like Rex just opened up a can of worms for himself!

Rex was once your average ursan, just a tiny spec living on a piece of earth orbiting a dim star in the Big Dipper. What was once a grave misfortune for him paved the way to a future that belongs to him alone. You see, the great pandemic that first plagued his homeworld has since made every planet that crosses his path a place to call his own. Today, Rex rules them all. It all started with a cough. The rest was a blur. At first, it was only a little mania. Then came the physical changes: longer fangs, horns, enhanced muscle mass, and of course, unchecked growth. For-profit viral engineering had went too far, but it was too late. The bioweapon had been unleashed and could not be put back. Neither could Rex. Ursanity and their Great Den would never be the same. More and more ursans began to turn, and turn on each other. They fell one by one, just like their cities. Billions perished in the carnage. Billions more were cut down and eaten. Legions transformed into hulking beasts. A few dozen turned into towering monsters of varying heights. Only one could rise to the top. Enter Rex. 6 months into his rampage across Megrez III, his pack consolidates and becomes the Cult of Ursa Majors. Two and a half years later, the planet would be his. A decade since the virus first emerged, the Cult has now established itself throughout the solar system, settling Megrez III's two moons, as well as two habitable moons orbiting the gas giant, Megrez II. Yet, the Cult's hunger still grows. Rex will go on to lead interstellar conquests that will cement the Cult's standing as a major player in the Milky Way galaxy.

The Saurans initially originated from Earth. They fled that planet eons ago to a distant system in order to escape an unstoppable asteroid impact. While their 80 million year head-start in aerospace technology helped them escape an extinction level event, their underdeveloped biomedical tech did not prepare their civilization for the Cult's invasion, or the transformative effects of the Ursavirus on the Sauran population. In the end, the system's inhabitants pledged fealty to the Cult, trading vital information in exchange for vassalage. Earth would be the next to fall.

Unfortunately, rogue experimentation in viral engineering proved fatal, unleashing a pandemic that could not be stopped. In the end, the resulting mutations and destruction forever changed Ursanity's trajectory among the stars—and everyone else's.

Originally, Raakk was an explorer who ended up on a far away world to try and find a cure for an all consuming moss-like mass that was growing all over his homeworld. He ended up finding Iro on that world and through Iro's astral powers, his homeworld was cleansed. The two then traveled around and eventually found Earth where they lived on the moon in Raakk's starship. There, Raakk discovered powers of his own.
