Stoker’s “Dracula” is (to me) such a slow read. There are points where it feels like it is dragging. I mean that works in the manner it is written (and for the time period). The individual journal entries are an excellent device and do a lot for the narrative but also sometimes-shut up.

I use Scrivner and love it. It has a lot of formatting options, notes/footnotes/commenting etc. You can break things down and search for them. Chapters or things you “trash” stay in a searchable “trash” folder until you delete them. My Chapters are above all this.
