Guys, how do I explain to my teacher that his canvas stretchers are evil?

Andy Goldsworthy = Every piece is Several Small Rocks, respectable, in tune with nature, humble, democratic.
Michael Heizer = Every piece is One Gigantic Rock, foul, polluting, self-absorbed, tyrannical.

21.02.2026 00:31 β π 41 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0I think it's supposed to work for steel and aluminium plates as well, but not for copper of course (sad).

My clumsy ass would not survive handling nitric acid, so I'm glad this method exists.
It's roughly 1 part copper sulfate, 1 part table salt, 10 parts water and then when it looks like it's stopped reacting you eyeball it and chuck like 5 more parts copper and uh oh, too much, it's melting, uh oh!
Thank you, it's a lot of fun to do!
It's really an old relief printing method, I just stop short of actually printing anything cus I think the plates are pretty enough as is.
I did a sketch page of design variations for Loxe the doggy. He gets new horns some time after the scene on the plate and so doesn't always look like this.
I made a clean design on paper then I cleaned it up on the computer and used carbon paper to put it barely visibly on the zinc plate. After that I paint on a sort of tacky black goo very carefully.
I bake the plate in the oven to cure the tacky black goop into a hard black shell.
the whole thing gets dipped in a concentrated copper sulfate solution which essentially sucks the zinc out of the surface of the plate and leaves elemental copper all over it. the back of the plate is also covered in goo. After a good soak and a rinse the black goo is polished off leaving the final image.
Here are some process pics!
