it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

The main thing I’ve discovered since joining Bluesky is that I’m not really looking for a Twitter replacement.

I log into here once or twice a day and have a cursory scroll, but the itch I thought was there doesn’t appear to exist.

Is Bluesky the new #MarketingTwitter? Marketers weigh in X users are becoming ex-users and fleeing to the new social app founded by X’s co-founder.

Yes, this is a niche reference that can only be appreciated if you’re a) British and b) a certain age.

For Love of God, Make Your Own Website - Aftermath The internet felt like a limitless expanse of free expression. Now I usually end up at the same three or four websites.

The upside? I can’t wait to see the Hapsburgian nightmare that results from LLMs talking to one another in Facebook comments.

I do think this is an existential issue for social media professionals.

It’s not just about competing against AI generated content, it’s about the inauthenticity of engagement.

What’s the value of an automated like?

You’d think that *this* would be a problem. Unfortunately we’ve ample evidence that social media platforms want AI generated slop.

Line must go up after all.

Yes, That Viral LinkedIn Post You Read Was Probably AI-Generated A new analysis estimates that over half of longer English-language posts on LinkedIn are AI-generated, indicating the platform’s embrace of AI tools has been a success.

Calling 118 118 and shouting β€œgot your number” at the operator was the height of comedy. I’ll not be convinced otherwise.

Elon Musk admits X is throttling links

A small amount of credit due for saying the quiet part loud, I suppose.

It’s something tangible for social media marketers to point at when explaining why we can’t just spray links all over the place like it’s 2013.
