For those interested, here is the speech I delivered (in full) on 27th November 2025 on the Code of Conduct to suspend me from the States of Deliberation, a proposition which was defeated by 22 votes to 11, with 5 abstentions (and 2 absences.)

My thanks to all who have supported me before and after yesterday’s vote not to suspend me. It’s been a long, stressful journey for all concerned - but I hope with momentum we’re in better place to improve regulation, governance and complaints processes in healthcare - and also the Code process too

I was not previously aware of this family’s case until their letter was published in today’s Guernsey Press, but sadly their experience will feel familiar to quite a number of others:

“But I cannot, in good conscience, simply accept the recommended sanction…To do otherwise, would be an abdication of responsibility to the many families who have entrusted me with their personal stories in the last four years. They have done so often at great emotional cost…”

Thanks to Aindre for offering and providing disability awareness training to Deputies this week. It was a salutary lesson in some of the challenges faced by a fair chunk of the community.

When the opportunity to purchase Leale’s Yard was presented to the former P&R of which I was a Member we had no hesitation in pursuing it. I think the deal announced today represents good VFM & importantly unlocks the site for development after many years of unsuccessful attempts to progress #govgg

Horace Camp’s article is worth a read. It chimes with Step 3 of Forward Guernsey’s plan for public finances - until we have a really clear idea of cashflow needs, the £1bn number attached to the capital programme, we don’t know what taxes need to collected and by when.
