She is survived by her children: Rabbi Yosef Pinson of Nice-Côte d'Azur; Mrs. Faigy Hecht of Cap Ferrat; Mrs. Tscherna Matusof of Cannes; Rabbi Nochum Pinson of Brunoy; and Rabbi Shmuel Pinson of Brussels.

Born in Leningrad, in 1923, Mrs. Pinson was the daughter of Rabbi Yitzchok Raskin, a shochet and chasid who was murdered by the Soviets. She carried an iron willed commitment to Judaism and the Jewish people throughout her life. She served as a dedicated emissary of the Rebbe for more than 70 years.

Together with her husband, Rabbi Nissan Pinson, she was sent by the Rebbe to help Jewish life in North Africa, beginning in the early 1950s. After her husband's passing, she continued overseeing Chabad in Tunisia.

Rabbi Levi Yitzchak was Chief Rabbi of Yekaterinoslav (currently Dnipro, Ukraine), and was arrested and exiled to Kazakhstan by the Stalinist regime as a result of his work to preserve Jewish life in the Soviet Union.

Av 20 is the yahrtzeit (anniversary of the passing) of the Rebbe's father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson (1878-1944), in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan.

They asked Rabbi Schneur Zalman, the first rebbe of Chabad:

"Which is greater: love of G-d, or love of your fellow Jew?"

"Love of your fellow Jew," he replied. "For then you love that which your Beloved loves."

Cry with them, pray for them, do everything you can for them-and then you can tell them to trust in G-d.

Keep your trust in G-d for yourself.

When things don't go so well, tell yourself it is all really for the good, and rejoice in however G-d treats you.

But when others come with their troubles, telling them they should rejoice in their afflictions can be callous and even cruel.
