Lovely ride over to Amherst Island today. Visited Topsy Farms, noted a couple of beaches to return to when I’m not in full riding gear, toured around the entire shoreline of the island, & then snagged a grilled cheese at The Back Kitchen, before jumping back on the currently-used Frontenac II ferry.

Along one of dozens of floating logs I was curious why one Northern Map turtle wasn’t dropping off like all the others. Once closer I realized it tragically tried to slide off at an earlier time only to get wedged upside down and with its head submerged, actually drowning. Poor thing. 🐒😞 4/4

With today’s sunny and warm weather I must’ve seen over 100 turtles, mainly Northern Maps, a few Painted, and one big Snapper under the water. 3/4

A 3-4 foot Gray Ratsnake was seen on a gravel road even before putting the kayak in the water, followed by a Northern Watersnake hanging off a branch in the canal. 2/4

Mainly a day of the reptiles, with fascinating observations, but with one sad find. My first time exploring Jones Falls north into Sand Lake, part of the Rideau Canal, initially exploring the wetland bodies of water before sliding under Battersea Rd. 1/4

Just your typical Saturday morning where the peace and quiet are interrupted by random deer crossing through.

Last night was special, being able to see Hannah Georgas for the first time at Base31 in the intimate Sergeants Mess Hall. Wonderful vibes, sublime lyrics, great company, and a lovely dinner prior to in Picton at Quaich and Banter.

We were absolutely amazed at the footage obtained from the trail cam setup near a deer carcass in South Frontenac Township, Ontario. Some of the wildlife included coyotes, bald eagles, turkey vultures, and more. Within a week the entire remains of the deer were gone.

Thanks, appreciate the link, will read on it more. And I’m not trying to nitpick but you said to check out the American Bird Conservancy website, which I did, and they specifically show, describe, and sell bird-shaped designs. At the end of the day we’re all on the same page to protect birds. πŸ¦πŸ‘

The image I included of bird-shaped decals was from the second link. I don’t disagree with you that it should be installed as recommended, and that there are better options, but again, the OP has at least made a decent attempt.

At the end of the day it’s better than nothing, and it’s now educated me on better protecting birds against our own windows. We back onto a wetland pond and love our wildlife. This Northern Saw-whet Owl πŸ¦‰ did strike our rear patio door, rested, hopefully recovered fully, and then flew off.

I took your advice and first went here: abcbirds.org/blog/truth-a...

That then took me to another link: abcbirds.org/solutions/pr...

And while other products like cords, adhesive squares, and tape may possibly work better, they still sell and recommend the decals similar to what the OP is using.

We were so blessed to come across this Insular Newfoundland Red Fox mom and her kits on the Skerwink Trail.

Or build a better predator-resistant coop. I’m only half-handy but after 4 years the coop and extended run I built at my wife’s request has kept our 10 chickens perfectly safe. And we live out in the middle of nowhere where bears, raccoons, coyotes, snakes, eagles, hawks, fishers & foxes reside.

Lovely. Some recent captures of mine in Frontenac Provincial Park just north of Kingston, Ontario.
