Ok, but why didn't you use the examples in Leviticus 25 or Exodus 21 where the Bible directs people how to get their slaves and how hard they can beat them? These same verses were used to justify slavery in the early US. While people lack rationality, the book is quite harmful (and gross 🤮).

I think I get what you're saying - in order to find meaning, people can become gullible to sooth their pain, fear, etc.

But meaning can be found easily without employing self deception. I was merely suggesting that humans better educated in proper epistemology will make more rational decisions.

I don't follow. Teaching rational thinking doesn't take things out of play. It just makes it less likely that people fall for religious nonsense or flim-flam of any sort. I also don't see how coming to the realization we're mortal is a net negative.

There is no evidence for anything being "created" or to warrant believing in any of these characters. People are certainly free to believe what they want, but I suspect that the more rational thinking we encourage, the fewer gullible citizens joining cults, be they religions or political parties.

You forgot the most important one that is arguably needed to accomplish most of the items on your list - pass major campaign finance reform that introduces public funding while drastically limiting (and fully transparent) private donations (and no more PACs).

Indoctrination. I once had a long conversation with a friend and pointing out, one by one, the flaws in his reasons for believing in a god. In the end he admitted that he did not have a rational reason for believing. Me: So you no longer believe then? Him: No, I still believe. 🤷
