While Americans go hungry, President Donald Trump was partying it up.

The president spent Friday night hosting a Great Gatsby–themed Halloween celebration at Mar-a-Lago, just hours before tens of millions of low-income Americans were set to lose access to food stamps.

Research Shows Women Need Confidence To Advance—Here’s How To Get It Women’s representation at the top of business and politics remains stubbornly low. New research may help explain why and what women and organizations can do about it.

Study of 6,400 US politicians finds men serving in "feeder" roles only a few years were more likely than women to run for higher office (governor or US Senate). This gender gap only disappeared when the women had served 8 - 9 years in office. @kimelsesser.bsky.social www.forbes.com/sites/kimels...

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

Citing Trump Order on “Biological Truth,” VA Makes It Harder for Male Veterans With Breast Cancer to Get Coverage A Department of Veterans Affairs memo obtained by ProPublica erects new roadblocks to care for veterans with the rare but deadly cancer. The agency cites no new science but relies on an executive orde...

Citing a Trump order about “restoring biological truth,” the VA is making it more difficult for male veterans with breast cancer to get their care covered by the government.

The disease is deadlier than for women and “notably higher among veterans,” research shows.

Director of FDA drug evaluation unit placed on leave, NYT reports The director of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research was placed on administrative leave on Friday, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

July, Dr. Tidmarsh warned that the initiative risks injecting politics into what should be a strictly science-based review process. When experts raising red flags are silenced instead of heard, the public loses trust and patients lose protection. Science should lead, not politics.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

You know me… I’m always looking for the seemingly unconnected correlations in data…

And this is just another one.

US life expectancies started diverging from the rest of the world exactly when wealth inequality began to diverge… around 2004…

as a direct result of Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

Two weeks later, Epstein continued to reject the government’s offer and sought a meeting with Acosta, according to the documents in Epstein’s inbox. Villafaña then issued target letters to three of Epstein’s assistants informing them that their boss was now under investigation for money laundering and other financial crimes. She also dispatched agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to the homes of two of his secretaries.

Finally, on Sept. 24, 2007, one day before Villafaña said she was prepared to indict him, Epstein signed the non-prosecution agreement.

Last month, Acosta told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that he didn’t recall any discussion of “potential financial crimes” as part of his office’s Epstein investigation. Yet the emails and documents from Epstein’s Yahoo account show that prosecutors in his office discussed the financial-crimes component of the investigation with Acosta and copied him on correspondence about it. Records obtained as part of the money laundering probe were stored at the US Attorney’s Office in a folder titled, “Money Laundering,” which contains “attorney research and handwritten notes,” according to a partial list of the government’s evidence that was filed in a related court proceeding.

In a huge coincidence, this Acosta fellow—the US Attorney who raced to protect Jeffrey Epstein from his own office investigating Epstein's finances—was later appointed to Trump's Cabinet.

Gosh, what a strange thing for Trump to do. Can't explain it. Hmmm.

Trump could soon make America’s refugee program a tool for white nationalism The White House is considering a plan to overhaul refugee admissions in favor of right-wing whites.

After bringing white South Africans to the United States as refugees earlier this year, the Trump administration has now granted protection to members of far-right European parties.

This plan, which becomes official today, makes the country's refugee program into a tool for white nationalism.

Outside Chicago, a father of seven was too embarrassed to tell his family last Christmas that they might lose their home to foreclosure. A debt collector was demanding he pay almost $30,000 to settle a $10,000 second mortgage he said he hadn’t heard about in 15 years.

Another homeowner, near San Francisco, faced foreclosure this year over a $121,000 second mortgage — even though he’d received a tax document from his lender in 2009 showing the debt had been canceled.

And in suburban Washington, DC, a couple got a demand for more than $86,000 in back interest on a loan for which they hadn’t received any monthly statements in nearly a decade, despite laws that preclude any such interest charges during periods when regular statements weren’t sent.

This is a tangible example of how regulatory agencies matter to people in practical ways. The CFPB had been investigating and blocking these abuses of the law, until Russ Vought and Trump stopped them from doing so.
