Why was I waiting for someone to get on stage and try to throw a steel ball through the window? ๐Ÿคฃ

Jokes aside. I think those new Type 00s are bold and beautiful. Since I don't know the strategy. I'll keep the unqualified comments to myself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Even with all the great deals this season, itโ€™s essential to focus on investing in resources that actually drive progress.

* How does this play to my strengths as a UX professional?
* Will I really complete it? Especially in the case of books and courses.
* Can I put what I learned into action? Pure theory may not be sufficient for proper growth.
* Will buying this deal have an impact on achieving my career goal?

Should I take that course or buy this template? What about the newest book? Overwhelming, wasnโ€™t it?

But before you spend your money jumping on what seems to be a great deal, pause and reflect on what you really need to make progress.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

The Black Friday craze is (almost) over; letโ€™s focus on what matters most.

Those last few days may have been hard on your attention. With almost every UX career resource out there offering deals on their products and services, it was difficult not to fall into shiny object syndrome.

Ultimately, the idea behind sharing metrics in UX case studies is about understanding how you, as a designer, think of and contribute to the business in meaningful ways. Keep that in mind when writing your case studies, and stay on the lookout for hints you can use to prove you can do that.

โ†’ What If Metrics Arenโ€™t Available?
The metrics you may not be tracked or available to you.

โ†’ Use user testimonials or feedback to show the impact you have made.
โ†’ Look at the results of A/B tests or usability tests
โ†’ Address the business goals alongside the user needs

โ†’ Showing Stakeholder Collaboration
UX isnโ€™t an island. Product management, engineering, marketing, business analytics, and so on all play a role in making our products and services successful. So, displaying numbers in your case studies indicates your ability to work aligned with common goals

โ†’ Demonstrating Impact
Instead of just examining conversion rates, you can examine task completion rates, lower error rates, increased user engagement, and other topics that can be more directly affected by your work.

โ†’ Aligning Design with Business Goals
Companies want designers who understand how user needs and business objectives connect. Designers who include results in their case studies understand that user-centered solutions arenโ€™t just built for the user but also need to follow a business goal.

Metrics in case studies are nothing to panic about.
Here are some thoughts that help demystify the topic.

What do hiring managers and their peers learn from case study metrics?

And while it may not be as easily measured as a conversion rate, we all recognize that we'd rather engage with something beautiful than something "just" functional.

So why not switch the tone to recognize beauty as a part of the value designers provide again.

First of all, it is harmful and mean to those of us who simply enjoy crafting beautiful stuff, and secondly, it discounts the inherent value of beauty in design.

Yes, design is more than how it looks. Design means providing solutions to challenging problems. However, I continue to see UX designers scrutinize themselves and others for "just" delivering interfaces and products, and I believe there is something deeply wrong with that.
