Not sure how it happened, but i seem to have started rereading Flann O’Brien’s hilarious novel, At Swim-Two-Birds. In this excerpt our narrator is out for a drink or so with a friend.

YouTube video by Charles Mingus - Topic Orange Was the Color of Her Dress Then Blue Silk

Brilliant take all around, but Eric Dolphy's bass clarinet solo (starting at 5:20) is especially especial.

You don’t change the world by fighting it. You change the world by loving it.

one of my coworkers once asked me if i had ever added it all up to determine how much of my life was taken up by commuting. it was more than a month per year.

I assume you mean the route he takes. My own commute was pretty hilarious when i lived in chicago, but that was mainly because i lived on the north side and worked in hyde park. There were at least 7 different combinations of buses trains and walks i could use, but it was always an hour and a half.

There is no way to normalize the "Canada should be the 51st state" rhetoric. The man has completely lost touch with reality.
