The Less Than Jake EPs I listened to earlier were far from essential listening, but I’m having a good time! Which is the point, right? I think my own adventures in music have got in the way of that somewhat, but I was always prone to jumping to judgement anyway.

I used to want each new record to kick my arse more than the one before and would take it as a personal affront if it didn’t.

These days I’m way more likely to enjoy a record as long as the songs/performances aren’t shit/lazy.

Ok, so. Are new(er) albums by legacy bands getting better or am I just not as much of a judgemental twat about that kind of thing anymore?

Fuck’s sake. I mean, I’ve only bought supermarket own “Wheat Bisks” or whatever as who can afford branded cereal, but still.

110. Less Than Jake - Silver Linings

Really enjoyed this one when it came out, which was a bit of a surprise after being a bit indifferent to their new stuff since GNV FLA.

Still stands up, solid ska punk fun.

105. Various - Future Left Behind

A harDCore compilation (as stylised in @chrisrichards.bsky.social’s mailout).

This genre isn’t 100% my bag musically, but I love the context around the scene itself. Check Chris’s post for more on that.

There's an acoustic Feeder b-side called Dry that fades out super abruptly. As a teen, my friend cranked the volume as it faded and you can hear a brilliant vocal fuckup that they obviously couldn't be arsed to re-do.

I really want to hear how every song that fades out actually ended in the studio. Release the tapes.

104. David Bowie - Low

Have listened a couple of times before and always had a solid time. I seem particularly sensitive to songs fading out today though, which makes them sound a bit demo-y.
