A rule of thumb for social media I paid for not following is to “keep your cool” publicly.
Ban them, let em stew but sending that energy back publicly sends it to everyone.
You could be the good guy but because you reacted, you’re “drama.” That’s all people see and it’s not worth it.

It’s not unreasonable and it’s very “justified.” It’s just that the reality of these things is a tradeoff. Discord is where friends, energy and community is and history shows that rarely changes from outrage. Many folks won’t give that up for privacy when it’s already so eroded anyway.

Sometimes it's really just gotta be about you and your little personal world and what's healthy for you as an individual. Every action doesn't need to reflect progressive activist humanitarianism. I think we'd all benefit by feeling less guilty about that.

So often it goes: “guys I’m over here now! Come on over!” but they don’t budge. You realise you’ve been duped. The performative noise got to you, and you’re in a wasteland that won’t change. Cara, Mastodon, Artsy etc.

I think that’s a good move, even just for your own financial benefit. I’ll be sticking around as long as is practical. I’ve done the “running off to other platforms” and it wasn’t always practical.

Because I’ve done plenty of it and it usually just led to denying myself useful services that didn’t bend to outrage.

Not suggesting folks should do nothing either. Just maybe don’t deny yourself crucial platforms that have social relevance greater than the decisions of those who run them.

I understand that not having a fursona, model sheet, stickers or custom profile pic feels like you're missing out but please don't use AI. It hurts your rep way more than not having them. You're saying a big ol' "fuck you" to your artist friends too.

Thanks for all that info Karla! Definitely good to know that it still does as advertised. I felt that claims of it being cracked were greatly exaggerated but hadn't looked into it myself.

Both services are constantly updated and as far as I know the situation is more complex than it simply being “cracked,” and either way it represents a lot more work for AI trainers to work around.
@kortizart.bsky.social might have thoughts there.

I like to view those things as enabling or freeing. If your identity is wiped or your inhibitions lifted, you no longer adhere to civil expectations and are now an indulgent sensual creature.
That's more in the realm of twinning/takeover/null though and plenty of TF doesn't feature that.
