I'm currently reading Fry's "Paperweight". I'm in good company.

This is a square image of a tree stump. The outer edges are covered with a vibrant green moss whilst the inner part of the trunk is marked where the wood appears lighter. The marks resemble the hands of a clock at 3:00. There is also a second hand which appears to be sweeping round the putative clock face. The whole thing is embedded in the dried twigs of fir trees.

Even more squares from Langsett. Stone and water.

This is a squeare format snowy winter landscape. I shows Langsett Resservoir with the sun beginning to set with the hills of the Peak District in the background. There are some farm buidings and a tractor in the near middle distance. The picture is taken fromn the top of Hartcliffe (Penistone, North of Sheffield).

Langsett Reservoir - again. A few years ago it was an easy walk from my house to the view point. Now it's harder. ( #Langsett in the #Peak #District). Same square format, I think I like squares.

Langsett Reservoir in the Peak District, north of Sheffield. This is a square format image that shows the effect of a March wind on the surface of the water. The time of day affects the quality of the light, this picture is steely grey so I guess I took it at around mid day when a mad march wind was blowing. I consider this to be an abstract image because, other than the surface of the water, there are no discernable points of reference. Maybe it's a tiny bit Rothko-ish?

Same reservoir as my last picture post ( #Langsett in the #Peak #District). Same square format, still virtually abstract and yet completely different.

Worth reading. The references to Levellers, Diggers, Quakers, and romanticism (Blake) make this a particularly English commentary on class. We could ponder these points in the light of the rise of reactionary rhetoric in the UK.

"His [Thompson's] Marxism was, however, leavened by two other traditions, that of radical Protestantism, from the 17th-century Levellers and Diggers to the later dissenters such as Quakers and Baptists, and of Romanticism, most powerfully articulated by William Blake..." sounds particuarly English.

Showing the gradition of light on water, this image is almost abstract in that it portrays only texture and gradition of light from a darker hue of water at the top through to a wintery pale sunset yellow at the bottom. The image is a squre format.

A niave construction of a view from a Windfarm on the edge of the Peak District depicting cows on rough green pasture in the foreground. In the middle distance there are fields of sheep. Beyond that, depicted with a textured swath of black dominated almost monochrome black, is the South Yorkshire coalfield. Beyond that, in the far distance are the coal powered power stations of Drax (and, maybe Ferrybridge). The picture references the impact of technology upon t he environment and also recognises that there are deeply felt political dislocations implicit in the move away from coal towards carbon free energy generation.

Here's a view of technology, society, and wealth from the edge of the Peak District - from a wind turbine farm, to cows, sheep, the SYorks coalfield, and over to the coal fired power stations of Drax. Battles were fought.

Shows grey half knitted bunny rabits on an orangy red textured fabrix footstool. The rabbits, in their current state, are reminiscent of dismembered bodies. They are destinied to become much loved cuddly toys for much loved children.
