Update on my 1930s #crochet project. Still unsure about the construction- I did not resize the collar pattern or the sleeves. 🧶 Pattern from 1935.

My first time trying to mend a sock ended up being my first time trying the “Kitchener stitch” ;; I think #mending is deeply beautiful (even if my sock mend is so fugly she’s become cute). I am so happy to add this to my mending toolkit as a skill to practice and use. 🧶

Belt part of my 1930s #crochet and #knit project! Trying to figure out if I want to knit or potentially weave the long band that will go on top of ribbing. 🧶 I have a few mother of pearl buckles - so cute! 🧶

I want to experiment with other bind offs it’s so cool there’s so many!

It’s a basic sewn bind off! I’ve not tried any of the knitted bind offs unfortunately they kind of scare me 😭

Hubris is me learning TWO decreases in one lunch hour!!!! 🧶

I finished the bodice! I think the pattern alteration wants to like lengthen but bring back the shoulder and armhole. When I tried it on - I kind of wish the shoulder was more narrow - and have the sleeves start higher up. Will have to play around next time.

Learned a new decrease!!! Learning to #knit has been so fun :-))) 🧶

🧶 1930s #vintagecrochet blouse progress (left front piece) also watching retro Claude who is miraculously also working on a 30s crochet pattern.

The Lilac Leaf shawl I made for my grandmother at her request—in fact, command—when she was 100. The wide rectangular scarf, hanging over a deck rail, is knitted from a gauzy mohair yarn in a mottled pale blue. The link in the post is to the Ravelry page for the pattern by Nancy Bush.

One end of the pale blue Lilac Leaf scarf on blocking wires. The bottom edge is scalloped, and there are two sections of edging lace below the body of the scarf and its lace leaf design. The yarn is so thin and wispy that knitting the scarf felt kind of like knitting air.

Oooooooo that makes sense. I guess it’s increasing the neck hole - somehow in my head I had figured the “add” was the width like shoulders would be wider or something hmm… we shall see. Thank you kind stranger!

#vintagecrochet help! ☎️☎️☎️ if anyone could offer any insight on how to interpret these 1930s instructions I would be so grateful. “When you reach the neck, add stitches to each shoulder and leave off stitches for the back of neck” I’m working on the back piece! 🧶 #crochet

I have been working on a 60s (?) #crochet pattern and struggled to decipher the sleeve construction but how cool is the armpit gusset?? Decreasing shells !!!!!! 🧶🧶🧶 I had to restart the sleeve like 4 times..so I am feeling hopeful! #vintagecrochet
