in my view kyouji represents social unacceptability to satomi, who's just reaching puberty & starting to realize he no longer fits into the 'normal' roles he's occupied until now. like to me the main conflict is between being acceptable to others and being with the person he wants

i also think maybe what some ppl are missing about the fami ending is that the story was never about kyst getting together (sorry) but satomi accepting something about himself, which IMO is a pretty clear gay metaphor
