These comics were a huge inspiration to me back when I was staring out learning art years and years ago, and while I haven't really consciously followed it stylistically and I don't think I can draw NEARLY that expressive, it's so nice to hear that I can at least capture some of its comedic appeal.

CYL request for @peachdelight.bsky.social of her One Piece OC, Maneki, the tactician for the Straw Hat Pirates! An unintentional stowaway at Loguetown, she eventually befriended them on the ship. While not much of a fighter, her book ate a Devil Fruit and can help her in battle by spawning items.

She's just so cool and silly! I loved seeing all of the art of her, especially the character dynamic headcanons, so I was so glad to get to be a part of that. It means a lot to hear I was able to do her this much justice for you!

I'm so glad you like it, I loved the design and concept so much and had a ton of fun bringing her to life! I wanted to try and bring as much of that authentic One Piece artstyle look as I could to her, I really hope I was able to make that vision come through on fitting in with things there!

It always makes me happy when people group Awakening in with the previous games stylistically rather than saying the 3DS era changed everything. Awakening made an effort to match the appeal of everything before it. Fates onward, the series got really experimental and each entry felt super different.

Sacred Stones is crazy because after a weird first impression throwing a whole bunch of Frelian soldiers at us all at once with no fanfare, we go straight into some GOATed shit like Colm/Neimi, Lute/Artur, and Joshua/Natasha. Definitely one of the most memorable casts as a whole in the series to me.

Yeah they do fine with that inevitable level of story prominence but the retainers really suffer and that's like 2/3 of a group.

Fates really had cast bloat issues and was especially bad with this, and 3H, while I respect the ambition for the structural changes, brought in this downside full-force.

Awakening was kind of really the last one to get this right for me, those were a lot of fun. After that we just got into our very monotonous Royals + Two Retainers and student houses structures, and a lot of character memorability really suffered. I want context for who they all are as individuals.

Holy hell this design looks so awesome, wish we could actually dress this cool in the actual Splatoon games! Would've been great if the amiibo outfits could give us more stuff like this.

Harumi Takeuchi, the Moonlight Squid Ninja Mother. I wanted to draw Harumi in a ninja dress other than her casual kimono she normally wears, and needless to say, she is genuinely gorgeous and deadly with her ninja dress. Hope I paid off with this one!

Game's GOATed. So much better than the localized release since it was the original version everything was balanced around and you can really see the design intention behind all of the units and maps really shine through a lot better, character roles feel way more distinct. Couldn't recommend enough.
