Comics pros and mutuals - any good Slacks, servers or channels going these days? Feeling the whiplash from being in three years of hospitality and retail to working solo at home for hours on end again - would be nice to bridge that gap and not go completely fucking stir crazy

Some PATLABOR 2 stills from the announcement article - still one of the best looking films ever animated, a constant inspiration personally and was super lucky to catch the first two films on the big screen at the BFI.

Fucking incredible news - and the disc releases include the original audio track too instead of just the 5.1 remix! The films only just got released on BD in the UK in the past couple of years, but hopefully someone stateside picks them up.

Insane get. I always presumed this was mastered in SD given the era it released and that's what's been holding back any restoration - delighted to be proven wrong. Will be a marked improvement from watching crusty watermarked 480p rips on Kissanime!

I chatted with Adam about this trilogy a while ago around the time the new 4K restorations were touring Japan; delighted he's picked them up since after years of languishing online as woeful DVD transfers! A mezmerizing series of neo-noirs that become increasingly abstract and labyrinthian.

Incredible slate, Radiance still blowing it outta the water every month. NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER I've wanted to see for a while, and Oshima's been a big blind-spot for me despite having MERRY CHRISTMAS and GOHATTO on DVD - might be as good a day as any to finally make that dive

Weird, not seeing any such prompt on my end. Lemme upload it to archive.org, will respond back here when I've done so

An extended sequence from Ted McKeever's METROPOL #1 I often think about, where the POV is pulled backwards through windows, corridors and openings. An incredibly unnerving setup, and a pretty ballsy one to do across eight pages of your debut issue.

(ofc you can find scans of the colors in all the usual places, but the physical issues genuinely are a treat to behold and printed so well)

Yeah, I've been slowly tracking down the Epic issues as he never reprinted them in color again (his own collections also dropped a series of accompanying Mignola backups in the later issues that are a blast)

The way this issue looks and feels in printed format is peak comics to me - McKeever's own musty colors being an integral part of that. I think they lost their lustre when he switched to digital later (too much gradient work), and his decision to reprint METROPOL in B&W only was a major mis-step.

Whenever an actor signed to a Harry Potter project issues a statement

Forgot to share this piece of KILLER OF SHEEP art I drew on a feedback card for @cineredis.bsky.social's audience board at Bristol Watershed - probably the highlight of the festival for me. I'd just missed it on my trip to LA in April, so was delighted to finally catch the new restoration back home!

First I've heard of anyone having that problem - I didn't encrypt either files from what I recall, is it stopping you from downloading them?

(this neglect further exemplified by them downgrading their UK UHD of MISHIMA from a digipak to a standard amaray and dropping two whole essays from the booklet, by the way)

Kazuo Hara collection, damn! But knowing how little Criterion care about their UK arm, I'm sure these will be Region A exclusives.

A pirated PS1 cd with a little disclaimer saying "Sony, we are sorry, but we are unemployed"

Back in the late 90s, pirates from Naples were printing pirated PS1 games and adding a little "disclaimer" on the CDs that said "we apologize to Sony, but we're unemployed".

Hope all the recent Henenlotter 4K restorations means a BRAIN DAMAGE upgrade is around the corner, by far my fave of his work

Legendary vigilantes unite in BATMAN/GREEN ARROW/THE QUESTION: ARCADIA miniseries Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia by Gabriel Hardman spotlights the intersection of three legendary vigilantes.

I can finally talk about this! I’m writing and drawing ARCADIA, a 4 issue Batman/Green Arrow/The Question book for Black Label. Thrilled that I have the chance to work with these characters. Colors by Romulo Fajardo Jr. and letters by Simon Bowland. First issue in November!

Talking about this peak TV with a pal, highly recommended, each episode is a perfect little gem, only 25 minutes long, the perfect length, give it a look if you haven't already πŸ™πŸ’€
