And yeah P2 is such an interesting one, and as much as I adore it - it's hard to recommend when it does such a hard-turn on the first film but still relies on some knowledge of the Patlabor world despite mostly using it as set-dressing for Oshii's frustrations with Japan's post-war peace treaty

I forget his pre-directing credits often myself tbh, understandably overshadowed by his own films and manga work to a lesser extent. He also worked on Roujin Z, a Jojo OVA and uncredited on Jin Roh amongst a handful of other bits, so he clearly didn't lick it off a stone!

I'm Eoin, an Irish comic artist/illustrator based in London! I recently finished drawing an issue of THE TERMINATOR: METAL and am currently open to more work in comics, covers, private commissions, illo and storyboards! I work analog and most often dabble in crime and horror!

And not even the most insane - there were two of these in the lot amongst 300+ others posters (inc. original Jaws, Alien, Exorcist, to name a few)

Almost forgot this was in the poster collection Katie inherited recently - Struzan's sublime UK quad poster for FIRST BLOOD. I knew this one was a keeper the moment I unfolded it, just an absolutely beautiful rendition of Stallone (in arguably his greatest performance)

You owe it to yourself to listen to Brown Sugar, Voodoo, and/or Black Messiah today. RIP

My favorite Struzan story is that he was doing the poster for Indy at Disneyland, but they didn't have the rights to Ford's likeness. Fed up with working around the problem, Struzan just called Ford and was like, "hey, can I use your face for this," and Ford said, "if it's for you, absolutely."

RIP a true legend. Even if you didn't know him by name, you definitely knew his work. I had a small foldout poster of his PAN'S LABYRINTH piece in my teenage room for years and always lost myself in the folds of Ophelia's dress and the faun's gnarled horns.

Was great to see this on the big screen for the first time, and a lush 4K restoration to boot.

Worth bringing up again, but the Image Ent. collectors ed. boxsets (referenced in that article) are invaluable resources with Oshii's complete boards for both films fully translated as well as an exhaustive 'making of' book, neither of which have been reprinted since!
