Working on a prez I’m giving @ Roger Williams about adapting field methods for better species detections & adapting field plans to be more inclusive of disabled scientists, & disability/accessibility in field work, while hooked up to IV infusion for my own (invisible)disability lol #disabledinSTEM

An upward view of a lush forest canopy with tall trees stretching toward the sky. The image shows numerous straight, tall tree trunks with textured bark and vibrant green foliage overhead. The trees appear to be mature hardwoods, creating a dense, natural cathedral-like ceiling of leaves. Text overlaid on the image reads "NATURE HEALS" and "Biodiversity supports mental health" in dark text. A smaller text block from the IPBES Nexus Assessment describes the relationship between nature and health. The IPBES logo appears in the top right corner. The photograph emphasizes the height and density of the forest, with sunlight filtering through the leaves creating a natural green glow throughout the scene.

#DidYouKnow Healthy ecosystems support healthy minds?

IPBES #NexusAssessment confirms: biodiversity and functioning ecosystems improve mental health. Access to biodiverse environments facilitates recovery from stress, depression & other health-related conditions.🏑πŸ§ͺ

I once came across a document (cant remember if it was a paper or ID book (online)) that shows the inside mouthparts of various marine annelids to be able to ID them. Anyone know it off the top of their head (or computer, have the file & want to share?)? I have students interested in worms!

RISCC support for CASCs.pdf

Proud to stand with my fellow NE RISCC leaders in signing the statement of support for the Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASC) which deliver critical, actionable science to help communities&ecosystems adapt to climate change. Defunding USGS Ecosystems Mission Area would be a huge setback

Would love to be added! I do biodiversity monitoring in rocky intertidal habitats in the NE US (inverts and macroalgae in particular), and invasive species monitoring. Thanks!

Did you know that you should end your alt text with a period?

"End alt text with a period, even if it isn’t a full sentence. The period ensures that the screen reader pauses after reading the alt text."

This was a new tip for me. Glad to learn something new!

Yeah those rocks are SUCH a pain! But the intertidal there is super interesting to me! It’s one of the few places along that stretch of coast that has the barnacle Chthamalus in decent density. Lots of interesting invasives there too! Would love to talk more w you abt Sargassum one day!

Yes! I’ve been using that site for several years now. Originally for a manipulative field experiment (maybe you saw the settlement tiles?). We recently installed some envlogger temperature sensors in the high and mid area of that shelf. Happy to share temp data if you ever need it!
