Went to bed early trying to get enough sleep before waking up at half 5 for once, and the other people in my building went nope were going to be noisy as hell 🙃

I have a 10 hour day one day this week because of parents evening I’m gonna DIE

I actually did manage to plan one from scratch quite quickly today so I think it’s getting easier. I’m still so fucking tired though, it’s so much.

I worked it out and I have maximum 24 lessons left to plan and teach until the end of the placement (one class is just once every two weeks and I haven’t picked it up yet so I don’t only how many I’ll actually do). I guess I just have to keep chipping away at it then I’ll be done for a bit.

I live in Chicago, here are some tips for dealing with the Black and Tans: Keep whistles on you to alert the neighborhood of ICE activities. Distribute whistles if you can. Post signage where people are taken, "ICE kidnapped someone here" is a powerful message. Stand firm in crosswalks or use your vehicle to obstruct ICE movement. Invite friends and family from rural areas to enjoy your cities, show them the only violence there is caused by the federal government. Post signage to alert your neighbor of the ICE activity. Record everything they do. Ask for warrants. They won't have one, but making them admit it is important. If they are on your private property, firmly tell them to leave. Sell them nothing and don't let them use restrooms. Protests. Protest. Protest. Every delay is a life saved. Remember, people aren't being deported, they are going missing.

Just 19 placement days to go before this one ends. I just need to keep going for that time and not implode

I guess it’ll get easier but at the moment every lesson plan feels like an assignment to my brain. And I’m having to do it seven or eight times a week on top of actual real assignments and admin it’s so intense

This course leaves me with a constant feeling of I’m only juuuust managing to keep up it’s very stressful

I kind of want to write on the posters why they’re doing it so everyone here knows. But I already bought up the renters rights bill with the letting agency to force them to give me a slightly better (but still soon to be illegal ) contract, so they’d definitely know it was me

They’re going SO hard on getting people to re-sign their leases for next year in my building. It’s definitely because the renters rights bill is coming soon and those contracts will become illegal, they didn’t do this last year. They’re even putting fliers on individual doors

I don’t think I can see myself very realistically because it’s not like I ever see other trainees teach so I have no idea what is a reasonable expectation of myself right now.

Something I’ve noticed is I almost always know what targets I’m going to get to work on, but I’m surprised by the good things they say because I didn’t realise I was doing those things. Maybe I’m overly negative, but I guess it’s good too if I don’t realise because maybe it’s natural?

Also both her and my mentor said you can tell I’m intelligent when I’m teaching which I don’t understand because it’s not like I’m teaching difficult things anyway because they’re all like 11? Maybe I just seem to think quickly, I’m not sure.

One thing my uni tutor did say is probably my biggest problem is my own belief in myself and worrying when there is literally nothing to worry about. She said my subject knowledge is very good (which I was worried about because I don’t have an English degree) and I’m already good.

I have 19 days of this placement left and it does still feel like I’m getting over one mini crisis just to get hit by another (by which I mean they are all just lessons I have to plan and freak out over) but I think it’s doable.

I am once again extremely smug because those fuckers handling my uni complaint tried to say I was too disabled to be in the course and not fit to be a teacher.

Obviously I still had stuff to work on but she says I was born to be in a classroom and the kids obviously love me. My mentor said I’ve been amazing as well and I’m really good at taking on feedback. She also said I have the kind of manner with students that you just can’t teach so that’s lucky
