Perhaps I’m misremembering things here, open to hearing alternative interpretations. Interesting question though, which political leader of the 21st century has showed the most moral courage? Which decision has had the greatest positive impact relative to the harm it caused their political career?

why? I find it hard to think of a politician in recent years making a more significant moral decision that they knew would hurt them electorally than Merkel’s decision to open Germany’s borders to refugees when so many countries were moving in the opposite direction
