A list started by Rebecca Solnit, whom I respect, might be of use during this harrowing time. On principle, I stay sway from politics, but we’re living in what might turn into the end for all of us, so doing what each of us can to protect our world is paramount.

Oh, ha ha! I thought you were explaining about a Bluesky category list! I’m still learning how to use it.

What are “expressions”?

Almost everyone who read the book and watched the movie was a woman. It was very popular among women; men hardly watched it. So you have to question what exactly “questionable sexual politics” means, and who has the questionable outlook.

So I will only engage in talk that uplifts and focuses on people as people, if I participate at all. No politics. And no claims about others as if I know “the truth”, and they are evil. No echo chambering.

So far not liking the Bluesky talking world. Just lots of west-focused people on both sides of the aisle, mostly American, badmouthing those they oppose, very often with wildly inaccurate proclamations. Just don’t like the irascible, condescending, jaundiced, self-satisfied outlook. On both sides.

Allowing ourselves to be subjected to this, every day and every hour, is exhausting us, and making us perceive a world which doesn’t exist.

We also didn’t have waves of information endlessly breaking over us, without letup. Our minds are not built to be overloaded like that, and the way we interact socially was never meant to be determined by likes or dislikes.

Just think about it. You and I come from a time when social media was non-existent. And yet a lot of the same nonsense was going on all the time back then. The only difference is that we weren’t inundated with it, 24 hours a day, wherever we go.

That’s what I was worried about. I’ll give Bluesky a trial, but I’m really not seeking the endless babble of something like Twitter. Though I do miss real discussions, where people present all sides of an argument, and stop overly judging others for differing viewpoints. I doubt I’ll find it here.

So this is my first post on Bluesky. I’m worried that it’s just another short-form chatter platform like Twitter, which I have absolutely no interest in becoming part of. A Facebook replacement would be a huge, welcome change, however.

I wouldn’t say the whole world sucks, but there’s certainly a whole truckload of shit out there, and not just on the right of the aisle. People seem to be forgetting how to simply be fallibly human with each other.
