Historically, no. Theologically, yes. It’s a common view that the chuppah is open on all sides to mirror their hospitality.

Historically or theologically?

Sukkot discussion with rabbi tonight included whether Twink-King David really did anything good as a king. Which… yeah, that’s kind of a good question?

God dammit are Abraham and Sarah unicorn-hunters?

One might retort that the entire point of sukkah is to diminish one’s material comfort and so it’s little more degrading than eating in a sukkah in the first place. Plus, picnics?

Yet another reason to file under why I think Chief Justice Wagner is tragically ill-suited to his job.

For Sukkot, one traditional practice is to welcome supernatural guests known as ushpizin. It makes for a valuable opportunity for reflection.

On the first night, the guests are Abraham and Sarah, who represent Chesed, kindness. It is said that their tent was open on all sides to welcome guests.

They’re commonly called the Santa robes and we thought to ask the judge to take a picture with a baby on her knee as thought she was Santa but forgot to ask (or chickened out, I forget).

I have pictures of me and colleagues posing as Charlie’s Angels with our judge in this robe. 😆

Fun fact: These are hermine robes and are incredibly warm, so the judges pretty much only take them out for pictures and the throne speech.

I’m playing on the fact that you misspelled Chag as Chen, which can mean mercy/grace.

Roughly meant to say — happiness is (can be) from grace/mercy, you aren’t lying.

Real deal. If it’s fine I might do it during the week instead of bugging people for chair/table.

Alright nerds, what’s the halakha around eating while sitting on the floor inside a sukkah, without a table?

This actually understates it. It was pretty much the main currency in New France for a while and its devaluation when the English conquered the region was a huge issue.

Can confirm. This is widely taught in Quebec history classes. Monnaie de carte, it’s called.

I’ve heard a compelling tale that many of the words aren’t even being shadow banned or de-prioritized, it’s just that when people use euphemisms to circumvent bans it generates more engagement which in turn gives the impression that the words are indeed shadow banned by comparison.

It's a pretty big deal that the NYC Bar Association--one of the most prominent and respected bar associations in the country--is accusing the President of ordering the "unlawful summary execution," i.e. murder--of civilians in violation of US and international law. www.nycbar.org/press-releas...

If I learned one thing working at quickly ascending start-ups it’s that everyone in a leadership position thinks the users love and are rooting for the company as though they also work there

So when users express dissatisfaction the leadership reacts as though this is DEEPLY ungrateful betrayal

I enjoy how people with lists called "leftist pigs who deserve helicopter rides" are ignored so the devs can focus on what's *really* important, defending digital cancer

Kosher Powerade is like kosher cigarettes. You can but you really shouldn’t.

Powerade may be kosher but I’m pretty sure it’s chillul hashem and also violates shemor nafshecha.
