If you are unlawfully killed by the authorities, you posthumously become a terrorist.

This sort of thing should be added to marriage vows. I mean technically it is in there, but there's room for some more colourful elaboration.

At the root of all our problems stands one travesty: politicians’ surrender to the super-rich | George Monbiot There are many excuses for failing to tax the ultra-wealthy. The truth is that governments don’t tackle the problem because they don’t want to, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

'Extreme inequality creates an β€œEpstein class” of global predators, exploiting the rest financially – and in other ways. It creates an ethos that no longer recognises our common humanity, that sees other people, as Musk puts it, as β€œnon-player characters”' www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

8. You cannot have both a free market in media ownership and a free market in information and ideas. The oligarchs who dominate the sector stifle inconvenient thoughts and promote the policies that protect their fortunes.

No president should be able to get away with doing this stuff month after month, least of all one with a 35% approval rating.

Too many enablers in government, far too much complicity in big business.

I wondered why @princecharlescinema.com now run a pre-film clip of De Niro in Cape Fear laughing in the cinema, saying not to be like Max Cady.

We've seen what ICE does in public. Imagine what they do in private.

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

US science after a year of Trump: what has been lost and what remains A series of graphics reveals how the Trump administration has sought historic cuts to science and the research workforce.

Trump has been in office for one year. We at @nature.com did a deep dive looking at the administration's disruption of science in numbers.

Take a lookβ€”the numbers are staggering. By me, @dangaristo.bsky.social, Jeff Tollefson, @kimay.bsky.social, & help from @noamross.net @scott-delaney.bsky.social

David Bowie and the Droog Superior: Violence and the Dame Memories of the young Bowie are of his glamour, otherworldliness, and gay / bisexual advocacy. But that's not the whole story – another part being quietly forgotten by a sanitising media.

Great piece on Bowie's relationship to imagery of violence, taking in fascism, A Clockwork Orange and punk. I did not know Bowie's mother was a supporter of the British Union of Fascists. www.travellerintheevening.com/p/david-bowi...

You Are Not Crazy Reality has become absurd. Those of us who see it for what it is, who know its origins, and who know that it is constructed? We are the sane ones here.

The redemption is seen as beginning with Glasto 2000 - pleasing the majority of the fans with the hits. Which sounds trite as I type it, but it felt like there was something else going on - something about him relaxing his drive to become something new, almost as a graceful prelude to death?

Just caught a showing of this, worth seeing. I thought it'd be in-detail about the last album, but it's also a journey through his career with the end always in mind. Moonage Daydream had a bit of that. This is more sober, sombre, and quietly emotional. www.youtube.com/watch?v=30Ju...
