The concept of the Farcaster network abruptly being cut off and leaving people stranded on a different planent than their home, or trapped in the bathroom, which is on top of a mountain or under the sea, has lived in my head all these years. But otherwise, yeah.

I hadn’t made that connection, but yes!

This is <exactly> why I never want to hear from James Carville ever again about the "faculty lounge." It feeds the far right authoritarian lies & the Herrenvolk democracy nonsense. No Democrat (or democrat) should use that language when discussing professors or universities ever again. Full stop.

Yale Chemistry had a couch in the women’s restroom. Definitely no one hung out there.

I can confirm. I bought the book and there has been a steady supply of lizards.

I'm in the "I suck, I suck, I suck" part of revisions, which I'm experienced enough to know happens every time before I figure things out and it doesn't suck anymore. Knowing that doesn't make this bit more fun.

LOTS of laundry product advertising is weirdly sexualized. I have questions. I do not want them answered.

I continue to be amazed by these guys. I remember when most of the New Caledonian geckos were the kind of thing where you might be lucky enough to see one at the zoo someday, and now you just have a bunch of them in your house. Captive breeding is awesome!

I'm just here to boost isopods. I currently travel too much for most pets, but my extremely low-maintenance isopod colonies give me a lot of joy. They are so busy! So much antenna-waving and bustling around.

his brushes are these: www.bellalunatoys.com/products/hon...

I think I’ll probably eventually get him the same brand’s larger brushes if he keeps enjoying painting: honeysticks.com/products/hon...

I wrapped the handle in vet wrap for a comfy bite

I’m giving a talk at #BPS2026 about using genetic code expansion to make NMR samples of modified proteins. I can promise it will not be 2.5 hours long.

I’m also baffled about their expectations. I’m on here to have fun chatting and exchanging silly little jokes with interesting people. I don’t think it’s going to make me famous.

I do think keeping the journal functioning is important on its own, but I didn’t care for the implication that those doing anything public are just making noise while the serious insiders are getting things done (and they can’t be expected to tell us what it is.)

Now he has done it.

Holden Thorp set up a false dichotomy and irritated @cdelawalla.bsky.social regarding all of the balls she and @standupforscience.bsky.social have kept in the air while she was (checks notes) finishing her PhD.
