Somewhere in there heโ€™ll watch some street cricket

It was as if directed solely at Chris Masonโ€™s latest article..

Listening to Balls&Osborne a while ago, clear how Balls much harder on immigration than Osborne. Partly driven by Ballsโ€™s constituency but an example of how immigration isnโ€™t cut cleanly across left&right. Also consider Blair&coโ€™s immigration โ€˜brainstormโ€™ in office: hardline by todayโ€™s standards

Itโ€™s pretty abject, and I wonder if it instead convinced some previously wavering MPs to pull their support

โ€˜George Galloway got them over the lineโ€™ is completely risible

Completely agree. Additionally, if she is making a leadership move, she really needs to wait until the tax investigation concludes. If still hanging over her while sheโ€™s running the right wing media in particular will have a field day, to the detriment of the party, and by extension the country

On your show recently Libby Purves described Kruger as โ€˜sane and principledโ€™. Is it worth exploring what leads right wing observers to maintain this stance; perhaps politeness and eloquence masking sinister comments continually showing him as a figure that would willingly take our society backwards

Clearly scripted by someone else, but most politiciansโ€™ speeches are? And clinging to the lectern, surely just his presentation style. As much as we might wish for him to cling to it like a walking frame Iโ€™m not sure this is confirmation of it..

As Osborne said on his podcast, had Johnson lost Uxbridge in 2019, Kruger would have stood aside in Devizes to let Johnson take it in a by-election. Does Kruger consider his idol to be similarly โ€˜unregulated?โ€™

Surely this risk being disastrous for the ECB. When seeking investors, they stressed the need for reputational due diligence, and the importance for investors to be aligned with ECB valuesโ€ฆ

On @hugorifkind.bsky.social show recently Libby Purves described Kruger as โ€˜sane and principledโ€™. I wonder if Hugo can ask her what leads right wing observers to maintain this stance, when Krugerโ€™s sinister comments continually show him as a figure that would willingly take our society backwards

For many right wing observers, Krugerโ€™s eloquence and politeness means many of his (I consider) dangerous views do not meet required scrutiny. Libby Purves described him last week as โ€˜sane and principledโ€™ whereas to many his comments are often quite sinister.

Reading the book at the moment. Parts of it were dismissed on publication as being rumour and outlandish, whereas nowโ€ฆ well it holds up..

Kenneth Maynard Wood, related to Maynardโ€™s wine gums. I only discovered the Kenwood link 18 months ago and Iโ€™m distantly relatedโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s always casually used on the BBC. A throwaway line from Nick Robinson when thereโ€™s so much evidence to the contrary

Scrutiny of Ridley is long overdue but he is not stupid. His mask of intellect misuses data to make arguments that suit right wing lobbying and think tank influence. His output is a symptom of collaboration that runs behind the scenes of shires and think tanks and has lacked scrutiny for too long

I think the thread is how social media exacerbates those in vulnerable periods. Clearly the case with younger people, &where too much of an onus has been on parents to safeguard. But people go through vulnerable periods throughout their life, and in extreme scenarios can lead to radicalisation

Yusuf just now went on about the Boriswave. But many of his now colleagues: Kruger, Zahawi, Jenkyns, Dorries et al still idolise the man. There has to be a ceiling both in terms of disconnect with voters and, in time, operationally

I think theyโ€™ve moved beyond Strauss. Someone with better links to counties would be ideal. Fundamentally though Key has proved ill suited to the role, regardless of who they bring in.

350m was a deliberate electoral choice designed to misinform, JR was lazily misinformed on the record. But for public figures stepping into issues of such sensitivity accuracy should be paramount. Itโ€™s not enough to just say โ€˜but the thrust of the argument needs to be consideredโ€™.

Someone should ask what adidas thinks of it, considering their focus on teamwork and inclusion

Ratcliffeโ€™s non apology โ€˜Iโ€™m sorry my choice of language offended some..โ€™ is risible. Wonder how it links with ManUtd sponsor adidas values of diversity&respect: โ€˜Teamplay: Collaborating across 160+ nationalities to create a diverse and inclusive environmentโ€ฆvaluing diversity, fostering inclusionโ€™

Iโ€™m surprised by athertonโ€™s ljne. Rob Key lied to him&Hussain & the media round. Coupled with poor decisions throughout. What does it say to eng players, the lions and menโ€™s game that the MD just lied like that? โ€˜Itโ€™s alright lads, if youโ€™re in a pickle just lieโ€™. It should matter. Key should resign
