Scale is way off. If the U.S. comparison showed red territory from about Virginia Beach down to Jacksonville, and didn't include any areas in the Appalachians, maybe it'd be closer (still a lot, obviously). Ukraine (including occupied territory) is about 30,000 sq. mi. smaller than Texas.

Right, but that disputes that it's not recognized. Texas and Nebraska are even designated "Consensus" in the NCAA record books.

Neither is Texas's 1970 title. Doesn't make it illegitimate.

And technically, the NCAA doesn't recognize champions in FBS football. They do list those awarded by major selectors, which have included the AP poll in every year it has been a thing.

Curious to learn why you discount the 1939 AP Poll and the 5 other contemporary selectors that ranked A&M #1 in their final rankings.

Hot damn, the comments about nice vs kind really hit, as well as the community aspect. I realize OK isn’t much better than TX in the aspects this author mentions (and worse in some), but those two items are distinct cultural differences north and south of the Red River.
