Were all would hear and all would see

The week grows older with the sun, the air with bites and chills.

A sweet relief, a ray is seen, amid the clouds and rain.

Will we remember what had been, till spring would come again.

I smiled and laughed, this little man.
Who braved for food, almost from hand,
He crept up slowly in the night,
As was his own sworn way.

I gave a click to call him near,
But surely humans he did fear,
The dark carried him from our sight,
To feast another day.

Not far at all, a little jaunt.
The air was thin, was brisk, was fair.
A pleasant expedition

But as I neared where I just wrote,
I spied a thief, in his grey coat,
His hair did flutter as he stole,
A morsel from a patron.

The little fellow set his stone,
He checked his bag,
The treasures shone,

The oak leaves shuddered sweet relief,
And still he stared,
Good natures wreath,

Then grasped his rod that he had made,
A sapping fashioned to a stave,
He dug for these a little grave,
To bury his ambitions.
