Contrary to Reform’s lies, what Thursday’s byelection showed is that the Muslims of Gorton and Denton are the opposite of sectarian. If you want to see sectarianism, try white people voting for white racists.

This is great news, showing that there is a real appetite for an authentic leftist party with evidence-based policies, that isn’t in the pockets of dodgy donors. Labour tick none of those boxes. But…

In the next couple of years we have to put in the work to show voters what self-serving, bigoted liars Reform politicians are. But what would also make a huge difference is if this Labour government could finally do the right thing and introduce proportional representation.

If there were an election now, a far-right party would have an absolute majority in the UK Parliament, on under a third of the vote. Trumpism would come to the UK without a real democratic mandate.

Musk could just ‘secure the future of civilisation’ pretty much single-handedly here on Earth, if he used his obscene wealth to end world hunger and support the transition from fossil fuels.

Yes, we absolutely need to call out mainstream discourse for minimising Epstein’s Israel links. But, with alarming predictability, some on the left are doing this by minimising the Russia links. Once again I find myself saying, ‘Comrades, more than one thing can be true at the same time.’

The point now is that our beloved government, in its continued pursuit of votes from its natural enemies it and rejection of support from its natural allies, wants to make the rules even nastier.

Labour also - bizarrely - took a load of jobs off the accepted list, including restaurant work. Do you really trust anyone who’s not Thai to make a decent som tum? But that’s 2025 news…

The very fact that people are forced to risk their lives on small boats is evidence of our callous disregard for the value of black and brown lives, even without looking at how people are treated once they're here.

And that's just for people with financial security who will contribute to the economy and pay taxes from day one. How it treats those fleeing war and persecution is a whole other level.
