went into an Ashbery tunnel for a workshop & am newly struck, in reading remembrances, by how many ppl said he was exceptionally kind & generous. his work can feel elusive if yr seeking a distinct speaker or narrative, but revisiting it with this in mind, that generosity of spirit is so so apparent
