A movie that takes place where you’re from.

Just went to a Tortoise matinee. James Elkington subbing for Jeff Parker but still great. No photos but I’ll try and write something about this and Thursday’s SML show in the next day or two.

There was something on here the other day (I think maybe you reposted it?) about an imperative for artists to evolve and innovate, and perhaps we don't talk enough about the genuine creative value of staying right in your lane?

I get the impression a fair bit of that is down to Stokes rather than McCullum though.

What I find so unlikeable about this team is the relentless awful Alpha Dog energy they love so much, which seems to mean that dickheads are actively encouraged to be more dickheadish.

That run through the late summer white ball games, where he kept trying to play his new falling over backwards shot to every ball was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in cricket.

It enrages me how Stokes and McCullum are encouraging him to be his worst self, again and again, on and off the pitch. He's a wonderful player and it's like they're baiting him into taking more and more moronic options. They're ruining him and Smith.

When Stokes says, inevitably, that they need to "go harder" in the second Test I think I might break something.

Genuinely want Australia to win now.

*Knock as in injury, not innings.

Might use Khawaja's knock today as a pretext.

Getting Mitch Marsh back in the team asap as an opener asap seems a good idea to me but they'll probably shunt Marnus up to open and bring back Beau Webster instead.

Is there one actual album from that run that you'd pick?

21.11.2025 09:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm after albums please.

Just think Wood is really overrated. I know he softens batters up for them to get out at the other end, but the number of games he's actually won for England feels really small? Tongue isn't really much more expensive than him, bowls around 90, and cleans up.

Finally got to see SML at the Church Of Sound in Clapton, and they were every bit as good as hoped. Crazy to think how many great records these five musicians have been a critical part of these past three or four years.

Yeah. They should've played Tongue instead of Wood though.

This is much better on the radio than the TV, not least because I like this England team more when I can't see the Barmy Army.
