An OC does not make a good PC, I guess is my point.

Good players still exist, I know several online and off—anecdotally many of them play Pathfinder 2E, just saying.

These are players who build characters that fit in the world. That pursue threads and hooks, and offer suggestions that make sense in the context of the world.

In the effort to move toward a more collaborative form of storytelling, the culture overshot, and now instead of DMs being wannabe novelists shoe-horning the PCs into their plots, players have become the rigid storytellers who want to use your world as a backdrop for their PCs’ predetermined arcs.

When you say “I’m starting a D&D campaign,” most players already have a character in their head and will do their damndest to force the square peg of their PC into the round hole of your campaign world.

At the extreme, there are players who literally only have one character, every time.

I think a harsh reality of being a DM is that most players will simply never care about your world, and no amount of campaign pitches or session zeroes will ever change that.

Mistakes happen, I get it, editors are only human. But, again, the solution is simple: I shouldn't be paying extra for what I will basically NEED anyway.

"Seven Things You Need to Know" and there are only five listed. The other two got put back into the PDF, of course, which the company website wants an extra $10 for if I purchase it together with the physical book or $35 on its own.

If I bought the book at my local game store, I'd be pissed.

Honestly companies need to include the PDFs of RPGs for free with the purchase of a physical copy, period, because the editing standards of print books have gotten abysmal and if I'm going to need to consult an updated PDF I shouldn't be paying extra for what should have been in the book.

In A Thousand Li: The Second Sect, we get to see Elder Ko—one of my favorite fictional librarians—happy… and it is a slightly terrifying thought.

I feel like the average AP out there has about 15-20 minutes of actual play per hour and it is maddening.

Nothing but the utmost respect and adoration for the rare actual play that can make it through ten minutes without a single bit.

I promise you it’s way more fun to like villain characters when you enjoy them being villainous instead of pulling a muscle to try and justify liking them or pretending they weren’t bad, actually

I do appreciate the original covers and am glad of my collection (minus book one which I only had in audio), but DAMN these new covers are so good.
