So I've been smashing through Dragon Quest VII Reimagined recently, as well as the Erdrick Trilogy HD-2D Remakes over the last year or so.

Which has me wondering, what's next from Dragon Quest?

Another Remake, VIII maybe or the Zenithian Trilogy?

Or Dragon Quest XII?

I mean yeah, people have dogpiled Highguard a bit and that must suck.

But at the same time if the game is good enough and adds to the (overcrowded) space then it realistically should shine through in the end.

I don't think mean social media comments killed this game, they just didn't help.

ZERO Square Enix presence at the State of Play is a bit unexpected.

I was 50/50 on Final Fantasy VII Remake Pt 3 but shocked that they had nothing to show at all.

Weird.

I never played either the PS1 version or the PSP Remake of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, and I'm loving the way it goes about things.

In general I've been loving getting introduced to the Dragon Quest franchise over the last year-ish.

I'm definitely ready to dive deeper!

The wildest thing is the number of people that are on that side of the fence who cite a love for Final Fantasy VII.

Makes me wonder if they played it without reading, watching or generally paying attention, lol.

29 years since my favourite game ever made was released, within the year I was playing it.

Wild to think something I loved so long ago still gives me so much joy and is still being discovered by new fans.

Final Fantasy VII is a true masterpiece.

I'm in "chapter 3" of the story and the gameplay has consisted entirely of a choice between "WRO?" and "...."

Astonishingly disappointing.

Day 8 : Favourite Final Fantasy Cutscene

This one is extra tough.

It's either FFVII's Sapphire Weapon attacking Junon, FFVIII's Dollet Mission intro OR the intro to FFX.

All top tier cut scenes.

Oh, Crisis Core's Sephiroth slapping down Angeal and Genesis scene.

Fuck.

Imagine thinking the devs of Final Fantasy VII Remake haven't left a lot of questions and a lot of new threads that people expect to be paid off.

Expert level "please don't change the stuff my head canon relies on" cope.

It's not looking good.

We should get Before Crisis but I have a very bad feeling it's going to end up as one of these events.

Yeah it's looking very much like that.

Really hope we get a third episode of The First Soldier but I'm starting to give up hope.

Can't wait to dive into the first Future Games Show of 2026!

Not a full blown story section like the OG Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core have received.

An event, similar to Advent Children I'm going to guess (which was a MASSIVE disappointment)

I'm starting to give up hope that we get a decent rendition of Before Crisis...

Day 7 : Favourite Final Fantasy Job System.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

No other notes.

Fucking Dona from FFX as well actually lol

They messed up so hard with Ever Crisis tbh.

It's just a vehicle for them to bleed money off people with gacha mechanics.

The ONLY interesting part is The First Soldier and they could've just released it as a standalone game at some point rather than this.

Day 6 : Worst Final Fantasy NPC!

Hmmm, very few of them really annoy me enough.

Brother from Final Fantasy X-2 is really fucking annoying...he might win it.

I may have to revisit this one after some thought...you?

Day 5 : Favourite Final Fantasy Villain.

I mean, it's quite obviously Sephiroth.

Kefka is great as are a few others but Sephiroth is the one!

One of the most cringeworthy accounts over there.
