Fractional stitches on black Aida are giving me nice smooth lines, but I can't exactly say I'm having a fun time doing them.

It can be a bit trickier to work on, but I love how it makes coloured thread pop.

None of this is proper academic analysis or references, but if you need those, this might be enough of a starting point?

Checking my dictionary, Modern English stink is Middle High German stinc. I suspect the tall letter in the middle of the mystery word is a k, which, given some looseness of spelling because medieval, makes sense.

Ok, bear with me because it's been A While since the one course I took on Middle High German, but I think you might be looking for "stinken" or "stincken", meaning stink, possibly with a random r before the final n for reasons of... dialectal variation, if I were going to handwave it?
