Hmm. There's a very good chance windows 10 is my last MS OS. That means Linux friction for VR gaming, which is the only thing holding me to Windoze, but... I know enough people who make VR Linux work already....

PCVR streams. Yes! What games you covering?

Wigig worked. Everything else since has kept me with a tethered SteamVR native headset. Not for everyone, I know, but reliability matters more to me than dealing with a tether.

VR's demand on GPUs is very specifically tied to the headset in use. Anything from 2016 (1080 x 1200 with 1.3MP per eye) to 2026 (3840 x 3552 with 13.64MP per eye) is possible. Then there's render resolutions for warping profiles which can take generated pixel count further still.

For gaming? The X3D would tempt me. But the 16GB 5080 is better grunt with better specs for VR. In the UK the price is ~£1400 minimum (if you're lucky) just for the RAM and the 5080. Get the which ever you can afford. I bet Costco has a solid returns policy too.

Fun. Captures the franchise well. Super well optimised on PC. Needs knuckles fix (community binds work). Good parkour and nice movement. Some skill required, not a chill end of the night game. Looking forward to more!

Axiomatic - another demo win. The objective is simple. Get out of the zone. The conceit is only being able to navigate by the absence of light. Works very well. A good visual puzzle challenge which I want to beat! Addition of smooth turning would be welcomed.

Quantum Eye - ummmm. 90s throwback VR visuals. Jank and broken interactions with doors. Optimisation is poor despite simplicity of presentation. Has a streamer mode to avoid *checks notes* access to "webcam, microphone, or image folders to personalize your experience". Not recommended. 🧵

Marrow Marrow - LET'S GO! Smooth speed, great movement, varied combat mechanics, good VR. Basic visuals are basic. Audio NOT great. I enjoyed, regardless. Not sure how well the experience will ramp up beyond leaderboard chasing, but demo caught my interest. store.steampowered.com/app/4041420 🧵
